Richard founded Johnston Asset Management in 1985. Prior to that time, he was Senior Vice President and Director of Eberstadt Asset Management, which managed pension and individual assets of more than $3 billion. In 1972, he joined the new investment advisory department at F. Eberstadt & Co., where he became a vice president and stockholder in 1974. Eberstadt’s investment management business was spun off and sold to Marsh & McLennan in 1979 who then sold it to Alliance in December 1984.

Richard graduated from Colgate University and earned his MBA in Finance at New York University. He has been in the investment management business for more than 35 years.
